Steinway B Recording Workshop with Pianoteq – Introduction

Introduction to Steinway B Recording Workshops

The Steinway Model B is one of the most popular grand pianos in the world, thanks to its legendary sound and versatility. Unlike its big brother, the Model D, it is more suitable for recording studios and small auditoriums than for large concert halls.

Many composers and artists such as Edward Grieg and Alfred Cortot have owned a Steinway B, which has certainly contributed to making it the most demanded daily practice instrument in the world.

The grand piano we will use for these workshops was modeled by Modartt from a Steinway Model B-211 (Hamburg) selected and signed in 2014 by the famous pianist Martha Argerich.

The objective we will pursue through these workshops is to present all the facets of this remarkable and exceptional instrument. We will make many recordings in different musical genres (classical, jazz, pop …), recording venues, including various audio equipment and microphone configurations.

Upcoming Workshops with Steinway B
  • Recording solo piano at Hansa Studios
  • Recording cinematic solo piano
  • Recording a classical piano demo in a small auditorium
  • Recording jazz solo piano
  • Recording with a modified Steinway B
  • and more…
